Osimhen: Nani expects Super Eagles star to reject Al-Hilal’s outrageous multi-billion naira bid

The free-scoring Nigeria international is wanted by the Saudi Arabian giants in a deal that could make him the most expensive player in history

Former Watford and Brescia Sporting Director, Gianluca Nani has weighed in on Al-Hilal’s ambitious pursuit of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

With their plan to lure Kylian Mbappe from PSG thwarted, the Saudi Arabian giants have set their sights on the Nigeria international in a staggering deal that could make him the most expensive player in history.

Rumours abound that Al-Hilal is contemplating a jaw-dropping €200 million move for Osimhen.

Such a sum would make Napoli’s decision to turn down the offer a daunting task, as it would stand as the second most expensive transfer in football history, second only to Neymar’s €222 million transfer to PSG from Barcelona in 2017.

The prospect of the salary that Al-Hilal could potentially offer Osimhen, should he accept the deal, looms larger than any European club can match.

The financial allure could be overwhelming, but Nani believes the Super Eagles striker will resist the temptation and stay in Europe.

During the ‘Radio Goal’ show aired on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, Nani said, “I don’t expect Osimhen to accept the offer from Saudi Arabia. He will certainly have time to earn certain figures.

“He’s very strong, and it’s only right that he’s attracting attention. If the right offer comes to Napoli, they’ll have to be adept at finding a suitable replacement.”

Should no club come forward to meet Napoli’s high demands for Osimhen, the 24-year-old could continue to lead the charge for the Naples club’s quest to defend the Scudetto title, which they clinched so effortlessly last season.
