Osimhen is not indispensable – Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis

Osimhen is one of the best strikers in the world currently, but De Laurentiis feels he can be replaced

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has stated that the club can comfortably replace star striker Victor Osimhen if he decides to leave the club, Soccernet reports.

Super Eagles striker Osimhen has been one of the best goal poachers in the world for the last two seasons. The 24-year-old Lagos-born is currently the third-joint most expensive player in the world per Transfermarket, and his stats easily back his valuation.

Osimhen scored 31 goals for the Partenopeans last season, helping them to their first Scudetto in 33 years. He also helped the club reach their first-ever quarterfinal in the UEFA Champions League.

Following his heroics for the Naples giants, some of the top clubs in Europe have queued for his signature. Manchester United, Chelsea, PSG, and Bayern Munich have been heavily involved in the conversation for the Nigeria international.

However, Napoli are holding their ground, refusing to sell unless they get a mouth-watering offer. Osimhen also does not seem willing to leave just yet, as Napoli are also planning to extend his contract by two years and make him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.

Napoli President De Laurentiis is confident that Osimhen will remain at the club. Nevertheless, the club can find a replacement for the Nigerian striker if he eventually leaves.

“We will see Victor Osimhen wearing our shirt next season, that’s for sure”, De Laurentiis said, per Fabrizio Romano.

“Then, if a more than indecent proposal arrives, we will move on and find another top talent as we did with Kvaratskhelia and Osimhen”.

With Osimhen’s contract extension imminent, any club interested may have to table up to €150million.
