“I almost became a lawyer”- ₦4.3billion-valued Super Eagles star

The Nigerian striker has a big reputation in Europe, but he admits that he was close to taking another career path

Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has revealed that he dropped out from Law school in his second year to chase his football career, Soccernet reports.

Dessers has enjoyed a decent career so far. It has not exactly been trophy-laden, but it has been filled with goals. Also, he has been a journeyman as he has played for eight different clubs in his nine-year career. In fact, Rangers will be his ninth club.

The 28-year-old hitman just joined the Gers last week in a deal worth €5million, and he has opened up on his career so far.

Dessers admits that he started taking football seriously very late in life because he was too focused on his studies.

“I studied at law school for a bit, so probably a lawyer,” Dessers told RangersTV per the Scottish Sun.

“I became a professional footballer quite late, and for me studying was always plan A, and football was plan B.

“So I started law school, I did it for two years, and then I got the chance to become a professional football player, and of course, I went for it.

“Now I’m here[Rangers], so I think I made the good choice.”

Rangers lost the title to close rivals Celtic last season. Dessers would look to play a vital role as the club looks to usurp the Hoops.
