Flying Eagles captain, Daniel Bameyi, has guided the formidable Nigerian side to three victories in four games at the FIFA U-20 World Cup tournament.

The Captain of the Flying Eagles of Nigeria, Daniel Bameyi, has revealed that the team can win the 2023 U-20 world cup ahead of the match against South Korea, soccernet.ng reports.

The Yum Yum FC defender voiced faith and hope that his team could secure the U-20 World Cup in 2023.

Ladan Bosso’s boys have only lost one game, a 2-nil defeat to Brazil, and have sent a message to the other teams in the competition with spectacular victories against Italy and Argentina.

Bameyi displayed resolve and a great sense of team bonding ahead of their vital encounter against South Korea.

The 17-year-old defender recognised the unpredictability of football in his remarks to the media and emphasised the need of teamwork, determination, and discipline.

“Yeah. This is football. Everything can happen, and any team is beatable. As my coach would say, we just have to be disciplined, dedicated, do our job, and concentrate. Let’s see how it goes, but I believe in this team. We can do it.” He said, as quoted by FIFA.com.

Bameyi anticipates a tough test against the South Koreans, acknowledging the strength and quality of their opponent.

“First of all, there is no small team in the World Cup. Every team in this competition is good. You must respect every team, “Then any team in the knockout stage is obviously very good. I think the Koreans are a very good team. They have beaten other very good teams. I think they have very good players. We have a lot of respect for them.” Bameyi added.

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria will tackle the technical Kim Eun-joong’s troops at 6:30 pm Nigerian time at the Santiago del Estero stadium, and a winner from the tie will face Colombia or Italy.
