Reigning French champions, PSG, are eager to bolster their attacking force by securing the services of Napoli’s highly sought-after striker, Victor Osimhen, in a bid to create a formidable partnership with Kylian Mbappé, Soccernet.ng reports.
Le Parisien, a reputable publication, confirms PSG’s ambition to unleash the fearsome attacking duo of Mbappé and Osimhen in both Ligue 1 and the UEFA Champions League next season.
However, the pursuit of Osimhen is expected to come at a considerable cost, as Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis demands a staggering fee of approximately €130m for the Nigerian’s signature.
PSG will undoubtedly face stiff competition from other European powerhouses vying for the 24-year-old forward.
Notably, English giants Chelsea and Manchester United have reportedly expressed their interest in acquiring Osimhen, further intensifying the race.
Additionally, former Champions League winners Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also closely monitoring the progress of this striking sensation.
While Osimhen may not prioritize a return to France, the opportunity to join forces with World Cup winner Kylian Mbappé at PSG could prove enticing.
Mbappé’s desire to operate alongside a focal point in Paris’ attacking line has influenced PSG’s pursuit of the Nigerian, as they believe he would effectively complement the talents of the French prodigy.
Despite PSG’s fervor to secure Osimhen’s services, Napoli is reluctant to part ways with their prized asset, hence the formidable price tag attached to his name. Napoli aims to retain Osimhen for at least one more season as they strive to defend their Scudetto title and make a deep run in the Champions League.
Reports suggest that the Italian champions are even considering proposing a club-record salary package to entice Osimhen to stay in Naples beyond the upcoming summer transfer window.
