Collins has spent the last eleven months recovering from a horrific injury, but he is back and ready to fire on all cylinders
Super Eagles defender Jamilu Collins has shared his elation after returning to full training at Cardiff City ahead of their pre-season friendlies, Soccernet.ng reports.
Collins joined Cardiff City last summer, and he was looking already looking like one of the league’s best signings after four consecutive great performances.
Unfortunately, the 29-year-old fullback suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury in his side’s game against West Brom in August.
Subsequently, he was ruled out of action for nine months, and that effectively left him out of Cardiff City’s remaining games of the season.
Collins has now returned to full training at Cardiff City, as they look to kick-start their pre-season campaign. The former Paderborn man has shared his elation at returning to the thick of the action.
“It feels amazing, it was a long last season for me, so I feel really good to start my first, full pre-season with the team again, Collins told Cardiff City TV.
“I’m really happy, I’m motivated and I’m feeling really good.
“The first training was hard, but it is what we want. We have to try and see where our limits are. But, it’s just the first day. We will keep working harder and harder to push that limit and hit the peak.
“The spirit already is high. I love to see the smiles on the face of the boys, and the gaffer[Erol Bulut] also is a lovely guy.
“You can see he is just making jokes around the players, and letting us know already from the very first start what he wants.”
The Championship fixtures were released on Thursday, and Cardiff City will begin their campaign with an away fixture at Leeds United.
Collins will be looking to stay fit and help his team as they push for Premier League football.
