Cagliari to tackle newly promoted Genoa and Serie A giants AC Milan for Nigerian starlet—The actual situation

The Nigerian star was earlier linked to a move to join AC Milan and notched nine goals and five assists in 30 appearances in the Slovenian Prva Liga

Reports that Serie B side, Cagliari Calcio and newly promoted side, Genoa, are in the race to secure the signature of young Nigerian talent, Chukwubuikem Ikwuemesi, have been revealed to be untrue, Soccernet.ng reports.

Belgian journalist, Sacha Tavolieri, recently reported that the Gli Isolani would lock horns with Genoa, and AC Milan for the signature of the former Flying Eagles centre-forward.

Meanwhile, Soccernet.ng can exclusively report that the Nigerian attacker, who had an impressive season with NK Celje in the Slovenian Prva Liga last season, recording nine goals and five assists in 30 appearances, has not been approached by any of the Italian teams.

Previously, Tavolieri, reported that the 18-time Italian champions were interested in luring the Nigerian youngster to the San Siro stadium.

But, the camp of the 21-year-old has acknowledged that there are always rumours in times like this, but they still await calls or messages from the representatives of these clubs to come and have a discussion they are yet to have.

Soccernet.ng, speaking to the secretary of Giant Brillars FC, said, “Okay, firstly, it’s a rumour” he added, “The young player just concluded a very brilliant season with NK Celje in the Slovenian top division with 9 goals and 5 assist.

“So it’s only normal for there to be speculations. I have seen some of the news, including that of the Rossoneri I mean AC Milan and a host of other top clubs,

“Gazetta dello is a reputable news outlet there in Italy and Europe too, so hopefully, it’s true. But as it is now, nothing concrete yet.” he continued.

The young Nigerian who has proven himself worthy to play in top clubs in Europe will undoubtedly be a good addition to the Milan squad, as well as Genoa, who will be tackling the big clubs in the top flight.
