Iheanacho and Awoniyi have been friends since cadet level, and they could reunite at Nottingham
Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has revealed that Kelechi Iheanacho is his closest friend in the Super Eagles team, Soccernet.ng reports.
Awoniyi and Iheanacho have been together since the Under-17 level, where they both shone. Iheanacho was the best player at the 2013 World Cup, while Awoniyi scored four goals at the tournament.
Both players have now grown into the Super Eagles fold, with Iheanacho nicking 42 caps while Awoniyi has four.
The Nottingham Forest star has now revealed that since cadet level, he has maintained a close relationship with Iheanacho.
“From the youth days, Kelechi [Iheanacho] has been my best friend,” Awoniyi told Soccernet.ng exclusively.
“He was my roommate at the Under-17 level, and I always see him as my best friend when we were on national duty because of the past relationship that we have.”

Iheanacho was relegated with Leicester City last season, and with just one year left on his contract, there is a high possibility that he would leave the club.
Also, considering Leicester City’s fragile finances, they would be open to letting the former Manchester City man leave.
There have been talks linking Iheanacho with a move to City Ground, and Awoniyi could be the key to luring the gifted finisher to Nottingham because of their close friendship.
Dennis is likely to leave Nottingham Forest this summer, and that would free up some space for Iheanacho.
sounds good to me ! We should get him if Steve fancies him
