AFCON Qualifiers: Super Eagles to train in Lagos before Sierra Leone clash

The Super Eagles could qualify for the tournament in Cote d'Ivoire if they defeat the Leone Stars

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will open camp on the 11th of June in Lagos ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone, Soccernet.ng reports.

Nigeria need just one win from their last two games in the qualifiers for next year's Nations Cup. They already picked nine points from their first four games, and just three points would see them through.

The Super Eagles' next game is against Sierra Leone at the SKD Stadium in Monrovia on the 18th of June.

According to Naija Footballers, ahead of the fixture, Nigeria's camp will be opened on Sunday, 11th of June. They will converge in Lagos, where they will train at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium in Onikan.

When both teams met in the reverse fixture last June, the Super Eagles had to come back from a goal down to win 2-1. However, Sierra Leone are condemned to win this time, as a loss could knock them out of the race for the Nations Cup ticket.

Coach Jose Peseiro is yet to reveal his squad list for the game.

The players and the coach have made it clear that the don’t feel comfortable playing in the Lagos pitch, CAF have disqualified it. Why train in Lagos? the’ve not played on the Uyo pitch for a long time and some of the new players haven’t even been to Uyo for the first time. Wouldn’t be wise and profitable to the players to converge in Uyo in time in order to acclimatize and get a feeling of the Uyo stadium before their opponents arrive?
why Lagos again? who is trying to gain what? why is NFF always working against the success of the team ?
