Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, who won their first Group D match against the Dominican Republic, will look for another triumph when they take on Italy

Flying Eagles boss, Ladan Boss, has indicated that his team will focus on rectifying mistakes against the Dominican Republic before their match against Italy, Soccernet.ng reports.

The seven-time winners of the Africa Cup of Nations wasted several opportunities against the U-20 World Cup rookies, according to the Niger native, and they would work very hard to correct those mistakes before their next match.

The tournament’s newest participants, Dominican Republic, grabbed the lead from the penalty spot at Mendoza Stadium in the 23rd minute when Benjamin Federick was called for a foul on Guillermo De Peno after a recheck by the video assistant referee.

When Xavier Valdez failed to intercept a long throw that De Peno unintentionally deflected into his own goal, Nigeria responded with a costly blunder. In the second half, Samson Lawal capitalised on the mistake to hand Nigeria the victory.

After the game, Bosso admitted that his team had made some mistakes and missed several scoring opportunities but promised that they would work on those mistakes in practice.

“I’ve said it earlier, the deficiency we saw in this match is going to be the content and topic for our training sessions to amend before our next match,” he said.

On Wednesday, the Nigerian Flying Eagles will play the fresh-faced Azzurri, and a victory against them could secure them a spot in the next stage of the competition.
