English Premier League giants Chelsea are setting their sights on bolstering their attacking options for the upcoming season, with Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen emerging as a prominent target, Soccernet.ng reports.
Reports from the Daily Mail (as per TN) suggest that Chelsea may consider offering an economic adjustment along with the transfer of either Christian Pulisic or Romelu Lukaku to secure the services of the talented Nigerian attacker.
Osimhen, 24, has recently made waves in the footballing world with his stellar performances for Napoli, playing a pivotal role in the club’s Serie A triumph, their first since the iconic Diego Maradona era.
The prolific striker has notched an impressive tally of 23 goals for Luciano Spalletti’s side during the current campaign, establishing himself as a key figure in Napoli’s attacking line.
Moreover, Osimhen has left an indelible mark on the Serie A this season by setting two new records. He has surpassed Samuel Eto’o’s previous record for the highest number of goals scored by an African player in a single season in the Italian top-flight.
Additionally, Osimhen has now become the highest-scoring African player in Serie A, surpassing the legendary George Weah.
Notably, Chelsea face competition for Osimhen’s signature, as Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Liverpool have also reportedly expressed their interest in acquiring the Nigerian forward.
With such a high level of competition, it remains to be seen which club will ultimately secure the services of this rising star.
As the summer transfer window approaches, Chelsea’s pursuit of Victor Osimhen intensifies, highlighting their ambition to strengthen their attacking prowess and contend for top honours in the upcoming season.
