Kelechi Iheanacho returns to Leicester City’s training

Leicester get a massive boost in the relegation fight with Kelechi Iheanacho’s return to training and could be in the team this weekend…

Super Eagles and Leicester striker, Kelechi Iheanacho has returned to training, Soccernet.ng reports.

Leicester’s interim manager, Dean Smith, confirmed in his press conference earlier today that the forward has returned to training today and could still join up with the squad to face Newcastle United next week.

Kelechi Iheanacho picked up an injury early last month, in the game away to Leeds at Elland Road, in a 1-1 draw, where he played eighty-two minutes before picking up a groin injury and was replaced by Dennis Praet.

Having been on the bench for most of the season under former manager Brendan Rodgers, the Nigerian forward began to slowly find his feet under interim manager, Dean Smith, racking up goals in the games against Wolverhampton Wanderers, and his former side, Manchester City, with both games sadly ending in losses.

Iheanacho has had a hand in nine Leicester City goals this season, with five goals and four assists, in a season that has seen the Foxes fight tooth and nail to remain in the English top flight. With his feat however, Iheanacho has the third most goal contributions with Leicester in the league this season, just behind captain James Maddison and Harvey Barnes.

Iheanacho’s return to the side could prove to be a massive boost for the side, as they are currently 19th in the league and need all the points they can get in their final games this season if they are to stay afloat in the Premier League.

Leicester play Newcastle next weekend and take on West Ham in the final game of the season, in what could prove to be a miracle or the final nail in the coffin.
