Haaland has scored more goals than Osimhen this season, but the former AC Milan gaffer believes both players have the same attributes
Former AC Milan and England coach Fabio Capello believes Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen and Erling Haaland have the same attributes, Soccernet.ng reports.
Osimhen has had a remarkable season at Napoli this season, scoring 28 goals in 35 appearances. His brilliance has been key in helping the Partenopeans to their first Scudetto since 1990.
With 23 goals in the Serie A this season, he has broken Samuel Eto’o’s record for the highest-scoring African in a Serie A season. Also, he has broke Weah’s record for the highest-scoring African in the league’s history.
Meanwhile, Haaland has been brutal in front of goal this season. Despite just joining Manchester City last summer, the Norwegian striker has taken the Premier League by storm. He has scored 51 goals in 47 appearances for the Premier League champions.
Haaland has broken the record for the highest goalscorer in a single season in the Premier League with 35 goals.
Former England gaffer Capello has been impressed by both players this season, and he believes that they are very similar despite Osimhen’s inferior number of goals.
“I don’t think Haaland is under pressure, because he has anger inside,” Capello told Sky Italia per Napoli Magazine.
“He lives for goals. Osimhen has the same thing, they live for this. They fight, they want to win, they help their teammates and they transmit this determination that makes you win games.”
Both players are having their best season yet, but Haaland is primed to have a more successful season. The former Borussia Dortmund man could win the treble this season.
