The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released the official dates for the group stage draw for the AFCON 2023 tournament.

The governing body of African football, the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has announced that the draw for the group stages of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast will take place on October 12, Soccernet.ng reports.

The CAF Executive Committee disclosed this information during its Congress in Algiers, Algeria, on Friday, May 19, 2023.

CAF’s statement: “The EXCO announced that the official draw of the Africa Cup of Nations, Ivory Coast 2023, will be conducted on Thursday, October 12, 2023.”

Defending champions Senegal have already secured a ticket to the competition, alongside Algeria, Tunisia, Burkina-Faso, Morocco, and South Africa. The host nation, Côte d’Ivoire, will also have a spot in the completion,, which is set to commence in January 2024.

Nigeria is yet to qualify for the tournament but is in pole position to do so, as they currently hold the top spot in Group A with nine points from four games, a run that has seen them win three and lose just one. The Super Eagles can take a step closer to qualification next month when they face Sierra Leone on June 19, 2023.
