Lookman has been brilliant this season, but coach Gasperini has not had his services since the first week of May
Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman could miss Atalanta’s game at Salernitana because of a thigh injury, Soccernet.ng reports.
Lookman has become an influential figure at Atalanta despite just joining the club from RB Leipzig last summer. The Super Eagles forward currently leads the club’s goalscoring charts in Serie A with 13 goals.
However, he has been unavailable since the 8th of April when he featured in Atalanta’s 2-0 loss to Bologna.
He has missed La Dea’s last five games because of a thigh injury. However, they have managed to come out of those games with three wins and one draw. They play Salernitana on Saturday and according to Football News24, he will not be available for the tie.
Also, coach Gasperini is still unsure of his return date. Nonetheless, The team doctors are still observing his situation.
Atalanta sit sixth in Serie A, five points behind fourth-placed Inter Milan, and with four games left, they would be looking to nick the Champions League place. Atalanta boss Gasperini would hope that Lookman returns to full fitness to help the club climb up.
