In a heartwarming farewell gesture, Slavia Prague’s star striker, Peter Olayinka, received a one-of-a-kind trophy to commemorate his outstanding contributions to the club, Soccernet.ng reports.
The OLAYINCUP, as it has been aptly named, is a symbol of the Nigerian forward’s remarkable achievements during his tenure at Slavia.
As Olayinka bid farewell to the team he had passionately served for five years, this special trophy served as a fitting tribute to his legacy.
While donning the red and white jersey, Olayinka showcased his exceptional skills in 182 matches, scoring an impressive 50 goals and providing 26 assists for his teammates.
Alongside his individual success, Olayinka played a pivotal role in Slavia’s triumph, clinching an incredible seven trophies.
Notably, he etched his name in the club’s history as the top scorer in modern European Cups. Undoubtedly, he had become a legendary figure among the Slavia faithful.
To capture the essence of Olayinka’s career, the club took a unique approach. They utilized cutting-edge software to model his journey at Slavia and employed Josef Průša’s state-of-the-art Prusa3D/PrusaLab 3D printer to bring the vision to life.
The result was a remarkable trophy that paid homage to the Nigerian striker’s accomplishments.
The OLAYINCUP comprises 83 meticulously designed parts divided into five segments, each representing a season. The size of the individual “discs” varied based on the competition in which Olayinka scored, lending an expressive and voluminous quality to the trophy.
The grand ceremony for the trophy presentation was held just before the kick-off of Slavia’s match against Slovácko on Saturday.
Jaroslav Tvrdík, the chairman of the board of directors, had the honour of presenting the OLAYINCUP to Olayinka.
In a touching moment, Olayinka, now wearing the captain’s armband, led his team onto the pitch for the last time.
Overwhelmed with gratitude, Olayinka expressed his appreciation for the extraordinary tribute, stating, “I value this cup very much; I didn’t expect anything like this at all. It was a shock. I love it.
“When I saw it for the first time, I was moved. Hats off to whoever made it. It’s incredibly heavy; I’ll see how it fits on the plane (laughs). But I love every part of it.”
With a broad smile, Olayinka relished the moment following Slavia’s resounding 4-0 victory over Slovácko.
