Chukwueze has been an integral part of Villarreal this season, but he may miss their next game against Celta Vigo
Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze is a doubt for Villarreal’s Laliga clash against Celta Vigo on Sunday Soccernet.ng reports.
Chukwueze has had an outstanding campaign with Villarreal. Since coach Quique Setien took charge of the team last year, he has become a prominent player.
The Super Eagles winger has registered six goals and five assists in 30 league appearances for the Yellow Submarine this season. His contributions have helped, as Villarreal sit fifth in Laliga with a slim chance of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.
Villarreal welcome Celta Vigo to Estadio de la Ceramica on Sunday, but Jornada Perfecta reports that Chukwueze may not play because of an injury.
The 24-year-old forward was on the receiving end of a rough tackle from an Espanyol player in midweek, but he has not recovered fully. He would have to undergo a late fitness test to ascertain his condition.
Villarreal would miss Chukwueze if he can not regain fitness before the game. He has attracted interest from some top clubs like Liverpool and Real Madrid. Nonetheless, he would look to get back to his full fitness and end the season on a high with Villarreal.
