With six goals, Victor Boniface presently leads the Europa League top scorers’ chart
Bayer Leverkusen manager, Xabi Alonso, along with his player, Robert Andrich, have hailed Nigerian striker, Victor Boniface, following his impressive display at the Bay Arena.
The Nigerian forward struck a stunning goal to give his team the lead in the second half of the match in Royale Union SG’s visit to Germany for the first leg Europa League quaterfinal tie against Leverkusen.
The former Liverpool and Real Madrid great was left with a lasting impression of the Nigerian following this, and may decide to invest in him in the future.
After seizing a loose ball inside the area and blasting it into the bottom right corner of the hosts’ goal, the Nigerian brought his total number of Europa League goals to six.
Before German striker Witz, who was assisted by Sardar Azmoun, scored a fantastic goal to equalize the game, the visitors could only rejoice for a little while.
The Red and Blacks player then praised the 22-year-old striker after tying Marcus Rashford’s previous record of six goals and beating it.
“The weight room has to be his friend.” Robert Andrich made a comment.
Alonso, when questioned about if the Nigerian is a player he may consider for Leverkusen in the future, chuckled and said, as quoted by Sport1, “He’s a good player. He played a very good game. My boys back there now know what to expect in the second leg.”
In order to advance to the next round of the tournament, both Boniface’s side and Die Werkself must triumph at Joseph Marien Stadium.
