Villarreal CF forward Samuel Chukwueze has made history by becoming the youngest player to reach 200 appearances in all competitions for the Spanish club, Soccernet.ng reports.
Chukwueze achieved this feat during the match against Espanyol on Thursday night, which Villarreal won 4-2. Although he did not score in the match, goals from Etienne Capoue, Dani Parejo, and Nicolas Jackson secured the three points for the Yellow Submarines.
At only 23 years old, Chukwueze’s achievement is even more remarkable, considering Villarreal’s rich history and the number of talented players the club has had over the years.
Since joining the club in 2018, Chukwueze has been an integral part of Villarreal’s success, scoring 37 goals in his 200 appearances and ranking in the club’s top 10 all-time goalscorers.
Chukwueze has played in various competitions, making 148 appearances in La Liga, 20 in the Europa League, 14 in the Copa del Rey, nine in the Champions League, and nine in the Conference League. He has been a consistent performer for Villarreal, displaying his versatility by playing in different positions across the midfield and attack.
Chukwueze’s contribution has been vital to Villarreal’s recent successes, and he played a significant role in the team’s Europa League triumph in 2021.
This season, he has been particularly effective, scoring 13 goals and providing 11 assists in all competitions.
Chukwueze’s performances have not gone unnoticed, as he has attracted interest from several top European clubs, including Real Madrid, Liverpool, Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Everton.
