Nottingham Forest has been plagued with a number of injured players, and the Super Eagles’ return could offer a timely boost
Nigerian international, Taiwo Awoniyi, is reportedly nearing a return to the Nottingham Forest squad.
The Nigerian has been sidelined from the Tricky Trees team since he picked up a knock in their 1-nil victory against Southampton in the Garibaldi’s second English Premier League game of the year 2023.
Meanwhile, in previous reports, the Nigerian was predicted to be out till March. But in recent reports, The Athletic has revealed that the Super Eagles attacker is nearing a return to Red’s squad.
The 25-year-old scored the only goal in the match but also suffered a groin injury, which has kept him out of Steve Cooper’s team for many important matches.
The Welsh manager, although, has given a positive report that the Super Eagles attacker is “out on the grass”, but considering the number of injuries, with Brennan Johnson becoming the latest to be added to the list, Awoniyi’s return to the lineup would be a timely boost for Nottingham.
The Nigerian attacker was starting to be a real menace in Cooper’s squad. But his injury came at an awful time for the Reds; they desperately needed him back quickly this time.
Whichever team wins is well deserved.
