Victor Osimhen’s journey to becoming one of the best strikers in Italy and the most valuable player in Serie A has been nothing short of arduous.
The Nigerian striker has had to endure a series of setbacks since he arrived in Europe, from multiple surgeries on his right knee and shoulder in Germany to a severe injury to his face last season.
However, Osimhen’s unwavering determination and belief in himself have been the driving force behind his success. In a recent interview with Elegebete Tv Sports (as per Tutto Napoli), he shared his story of resilience and triumph.
The setbacks
After a tough start in Germany, Osimhen moved to Belgium and later excelled in France before he arrived in Italy to join Napoli. However, his journey was far from smooth, as he contracted Covid-19 and suffered a hand injury that kept him out for three months.
Despite these setbacks, Osimhen remained positive and focused on his goals.
Last season, Osimhen suffered a serious injury to his face, which required surgery.
The recovery process was challenging, but his loved ones surrounded Osimhen, and their support helped him to heal faster.
“I’ve had so many problems since I arrived in Europe,” Osimhen said. “In Germany, I had surgery three times on my right knee. Then a shoulder problem which also required surgery.
“These things I went through made me who I am today; then, when I moved to Italy, everything was different. I had Covid, an injury to my right hand that kept me out for three months, and it was a difficult time, but I always believed in myself and knew I would come back stronger.”
The successes
Now, Osimhen is proud of his achievements and the progress he has made. He is putting up impressive numbers for Napoli, and his contribution to the team’s success cannot be overstated.
Osimhen has scored 21 league goals, and he is favoured to become the first African to win the Italian top-flight’s top goalscorer award.
The Super Eagles striker recently became the most valuable player in Serie A after his valuation hit the €100 million mark. His goals have been crucial to helping Napoli establish a 19-point advantage at the top of the table edge closer to a first league title in 33 years.
With the Scudetto in sight, Osimhen is determined to give his all in the upcoming matches and help his team clinch the title.
The 24-year-old added, “All of these things define my career and my life. I knew that when I returned, I could fulfill my wishes and silence those who didn’t believe in me. Last season I had a bad injury to my face, it was a bad time, and I had to undergo surgery again.
“It was hard for me, but I surrounded myself with my loved ones, and it helped me heal faster. I am happy that today I have a mask that protects me.
“Now I’m extremely proud of myself, I’m putting up some crazy numbers, and this is good for Napoli, my team, and for me. Now we are in the running to become champions and celebrate. I will give my all in the next matches to make sure my dreams come true; I can’t wait! The Scudetto is becoming a reality.”
Victor Osimhen’s journey to the top has been challenging, but his perseverance and determination have paid off. He is a true inspiration to all those who face adversity and setbacks in life.
