After losing to Guinea-Bissau in Abuja, the Super Eagles of Nigeria squandered their chance of making it to the 34th edition of the biennial African competition.
The Super Eagles’ head coach, Jose Peseiro, has outlined his agreed goals for the rematch against Guinea-Bissau in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match.
The Portuguese coach has told his team that he would settle for nothing less than a win at the Estádio 24 de Setembro.
The Super Eagles dented their chances of securing their tickets to Côte d’Ivoire with their loss to the African Wild Dogs at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, with a score of 1 goal to none.
With Baciro Candé’s team overtaking the Nigerian team in the Group A AFCON qualifying rankings, the Nigerian team slipped to second place after squandering all of their points with a loss at the Abuja Stadium.
The 62-year-old, who was addressing the media prior to the match, said that his squad have the talents to succeed in the match and has instructed his players to focus more on beating their West African neighbours.
“We have the quality to finish better. I can’t speak about the pitch. My players need to concentrate more. We have the quality to beat Guinea tomorrow. I have spoken to the players.
“When I saw the video again, I discovered that we had a very good game, but we lost many scoring chances on Friday.
“We need to repeat the same play for our game tomorrow, and we need to score because it’s not normal to be missing goals, just like it happened in the first game.” Peseiro said.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to play Guinea-Bissau at 5:00 West Africa Time today, and they have a good likelihood of coming out on top.
