Following his great performance for the club, English clubs like Everton and Southampton have expressed interest in the Nigerian internationals.
Super Eagles forward, Paul Onuachu, has signed with Southampton on a three and a half year deal from KRC Genk.
For an estimated €18 million plus add-ons, the Super Eagles forward will join his countryman Joe Aribo at St. Mary’s stadium.
Numerous European clubs, including Everton, became interested in the former Midtjylland striker after his stellar performance with The Smurfs. To an extent, Everton was ready to battle with the Saints for the striker’s services.
Both teams looked to the striker’s brilliance as a vital player to help them in their relegation battle as they both languished in the relegation zone of the English Premier league table.
However, Southampton announced on their social media platforms, having prevailed in their battle to get his signature.
”Striker Paul Onuachu has joined #SaintsFC on a three-and-a-half-year deal from @KRCGenkofficial:” the club wrote
The Super Eagles forward, who has played 18 times for Nigeria’s national team, became the club’s fourth acquisition of the January transfer window after Carlos Alcaraz, James Bree, and Mislav Orsic.
Onuachu, who moved to Genk from FC Midtjylland in 2019, has excelled for Genk this season in the Jupiler Pro League scoring 17 goals in 22 games in all competitions.
