The two Super Eagles stars have been in great form in recent weeks, but they blanked on Sunday
Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho fired blanks for Leicester City in their 3-0 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Iheanacho was looking to continue his three-game scoring run when his Leicester City side traveled to Manchester United. The Red Devils had been in great form in recent weeks, and it promised to be an interesting game.
Leicester City started the game well with a lot of chances falling to them in the opening embers. Iheanacho almost got an assist after he set up Harvey Barnes with a brilliant pass that put him one-on-one with De Gea. However, Barnes fluffed his lines, failing to finish well.
The Super Eagles star almost got on the scoresheet himself a few minutes later. He got on the end of a cross and sent a well-placed header toward the goal, but De Gea was equal to the task and made a brilliant save.
Unfortunately for Leicester City, they soon lost control of the game, and Manchester United caught them off guard after a brilliant counter that resulted in a goal for in-form striker Marcus Rashford.
The Foxes started the second half poorly, and the Red Devils capitalized. Goals from Jadon Sancho and Rashford sealed the 3-0 win for Manchester United.
Iheanacho was taken off for Jamie Vardy in the 75th minute.
Lookman and Atalanta flop against Lecce
Since Ademola Lookman asserted that he was going to catch up with compatriot Victor Osimhen on Serie A’s goalscoring charts he has not scored a goal.
He had the opportunity to do that when Lecce visited Atalanta in Bergamo, but he failed.
Atalanta fell behind early in the game after Assan Ceesay scored for Lecce in the 4th minute.
La Dea went in search of the equalizer, but Lecce capitalized and scored the second courtesy of Alexis Blin in the 71st minute.
Atalanta pulled one back through Hojlund in the 87th minute, but that was all they could muster.
Lookman played all 90 minutes. He registered 54 touches. Only two of his five drives were successful, and he created one big chance.
The former Leicester City man has now failed to score in his last four games.
