Folarin Balogun: Agent reveals which country Ligue 1 top scorer may represent

Folarin Balogun has played for the USA and England youth teams, although he has not yet represented the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The Agent of Arsenal loanee, Folarin Balogun, has hinted that his client may pass on playing for both the United States and the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The Agent revealed that the youngster had stated his want to play for England at some point.

Folarin’s brilliance for Stade de Reims in Ligue 1 took the spotlight from Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi, raising eyebrows at certain clubs and arousing interest in several nations, including Nigeria.

The 21-year-old attacker took his goal tally to 14 goals in the French League after bagging 3 goals in his side’s 4-2 victory over Lorient FC on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.

His performance and talent are ones that a nation would desire in its national team, but his agent has cast some doubt on his chances of playing for either The Stars and Stripes or the Super Eagles.

” Balogun knows the English set up are aware of him, and his goal still remains breaking into the senior team within the next two years. It is achievable because he is on track. It all begins from the summer when his club future will be sorted at Arsenal”, according to the agent, who was cited by owngoalnigeria.

The striker is yet to play for Nigeria, despite having previously played for the under-18 teams of the USA and England.

The Englishman of Nigerian descent, having played a few games for England’s U-21 team scoring 6 goals for them in 11 match appearances, has topped the list of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), but following this, they may not be successful in luring the New York City native to the Super Eagles team.

If he chooses to play for England, he would regret it one day. He might be dumped like Tammy and others once he is out of steam or faces racial abuses and xenophobic remarks in the event he features in an important match that England lost. Remember what they did to Saka at the world cup after losing to France

As much as I would love for him to play for England I think the media has shown us how quickly racism can’t taint the effort put it. I don’t know if USA is a y better, but there also concerns playing for African nations…tough decision
