From the aesthetics of the events to the surprising teams that put on a strong display to Argentina winning it, the 2022 World Cup did surely gave football fans the best showing.

Nigerian attacker, Odion Ighalo, has declared the 2022 World Cup in Qatar to be the finest tournament ever.

The Super Eagles striker, who was a member of the Nigerian side that lost their World Cup ticket to Ghana, stated why the Mundial was the best.

Lionel Messi’s tireless attempts to win the World Cup, as well as Mbappe’s spectacular performance, were not far from his lips.

As he caught up with FIFA+, in a discussion, he said,

“It was one of the best World Cups I’ve seen. A lot of teams did well. Messi did what he has always wanted to do. Mbappe, a young guy, gave everything but unfortunately couldn’t win the World Cup. I was very impressed with Mbappe.”

He also cited Morocco’s outstanding World Cup performance and believes his squad can replicate it in the Club World Cup.

“Morocco were amazing. We have taken inspiration from them. If Morocco can do it, of course Al Hilal can do it too. A lot of teams who have been called underdogs have sprung surprises. We know we can achieve the same against big teams at the Club World Cup.” he added.

The Nigerian striker, who is presently putting in his finest showing, will be aiming to take it a step further when his team competes for the Club World Cup.
