The former African champions will look to regain their winning momentum when they feature at the invitational tournament next month
Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum has invited 23 players of Nigeria’s Super Falcons for February’s Revelation Cup Tournament.
Top of the list are Barcelona striker Asisat Oshoala and Paris FC goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, with Rivers Angels’ defender Akudo Ogbonna the only home-based star invited.
Waldrum is counting on dependable, old warhorses Onome Ebi, Osinachi Ohale, and Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene while talented youngsters, including Stade de Reims duo of Rofiat Imuran and Oluwatosin Demehin as well as Atletico Madrid’s Rasheedat Ajibade, also find their place in the team.
In Mexico, the Super Falcons will look to snap out of a five-game losing streak that started with losing to Morocco in the semifinal of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Nigeria will trade tackles with hosts Mexico, Costa Rica, and Colombia in the Revelation Cup which will run between the 15th – 21st of February in the State of Guanajuato.
The tournament is scheduled to prepare the Falcons for the challenges at the 9th FIFA Women’s World Cup finals in Australia and New Zealand later in July.
Nigeria’s first game of the tournament is against hosts Mexico on Wednesday, 15th February, before the nine-time African champions lock horns.
The Falcons’ last match at the four-nation tourney will be versus Costa Rica on Tuesday 21st February.
The Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed that the Super Falcons will depart the country’s shores on Saturday, 11th February for the tournament.
