Bassey has suffered a lot of criticism since he joined Ajax, and Sneijder has a solution to the problem
Former Real Madrid midfielder Wesley Sneijder has advised Ajax to send Calvin Bassey back to Rangers after they sacked Alfred Schreuder.
Bassey became the second most expensive signing at Ajax after they paid Rangers €23million for his services last summer.
However, since the Super Eagles star arrived at the club, he has not been entirely impressive. Albeit he has registered some decent displays, Bassey has been inconsistent. His displays have contributed in Ajax’s poor results this season.
Godenzonen sit fifth in the Eredivisie – an unusual position for them, and they had to sack Alfred Schreuder from the coaching job last week.
Nonetheless, former Ajax and Real Madrid star Sneijder also want the Amsterdam kings to do away with Bassey.
Ahead of Ajax’s next game against Excelsior, Sneijder made some scathing comments.
“I would advise the coach to take Tadic out, that’s one,” Sneijder said as per fcupdate. “And I think Bassey should be given a one-way ticket back to where he came from.
Despite the numerous criticisms, Bassey has been one of the best defenders this season. The versatile 23-year-old would look to improve and ensure that he gets into the good books of Ajax fans.
