The Nigerian international showed his quality on Sunday night to help the Neapolitans claim a crucial win over Jose Mourinho’s charges
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen was a perfect mix of three Brazilian legends when scoring the opening goal during Napoli’s 2-1 win over AS Roma on Sunday, claims renowned Spanish sports publication, Marca.
Osimhen scored a goal-of-the-season contender barely 17 minutes into the much-anticipated Serie A clash between the two Italian powerhouses.
Sandwiched between several Roma defenders, Osimhen trapped a deep Kvaratskhelia cross on his chest and allowed it to settle briefly on his lap before firing an unstoppable volley into the roof of the net, all in one smooth movement.
Composure and elite quality found an incredible meeting point with technical brilliance in those few seconds inside the magnificent Diego Maradona Stadium.
AS Roma head coach Jose Mourinho immediately after the game described Osimhen’s goal as ‘amazing’ but Marca has been more explicit with their description of the strike.
In their editorial (as per Tutto Napoli), the news outlet combined traits of Brazilian greats Romario, Ronaldinho, and Ronaldo in scoring the stunner.
Marca wrote: “Osimhen is a buffalo when the spaces are wide and when they aren’t he still reaches the goal with his technique.
“Osimhen lowers the ball onto his chest with the quality of Romario, controls it with his thigh as if he were Ronaldinho, and hits it with a violence typical of Ronaldo himself.”
Top scorer in the Italian Serie A, Osimhen has scored 14 goals this term, matching his tally last season with nearly half of the campaign still to go.
