The Nigeria international has been the worst nightmare of several defenders in Italy and beyond and one has come out to admit it
Slovenian defender Jaka Bijol has confessed that Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is the worst nightmare he has had to live through in the Italian Serie A this season.
Osimhen and Bijol came face to face with each other for the first time when Napoli played host to Udinese at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on November 12.
Osimhen scored the game’s first goal after just fifteen minutes to steer Napoli to a deserved 3-2 win over the visitors. In getting his goal, the Nigerian forward showed his increasing prowess at headers as he nodded expertly past Marco Silvestri in the Udinese goal with Bijol caught ball watching.
In a chat with Calling Himself Bomber, Bijol has admitted that it was a near-impossible task to keep a player of Osimhen’s quality quiet for the entire duration of a game.
Bijol cited the Super Eagles striker’s strength, pace and pitch management as the things that make him almost unstoppable.
When asked who was the toughest centre-forward he faced, the former CSKA Moscow star replied, “I had a difficult life in the last match against Napoli. Oshimen is a really strong striker. He is fast and knows how to move well.”
Before the Italian Serie A went on a month-and-a-half-long World Cup break, Osimhen had notched nine goals to sit as the league’s top goalscorer.
