The Indomitable Lions were the underdogs going into the game, but they played their hearts out and got the win

Cameroon were knocked out of the World Cup despite a shocking 1-0 win against Brazil, but Nigerian fans have taken to social media to share their satisfaction with their spirited performance.

After an opening-day loss to Switzerland, Cameroon played out an interesting 3-3 draw against Serbia in their second game.

The odds were stacked against the Indomitable Lions for them to qualify for the round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup, they had to beat Brazil and hope that Serbia drew against Switzerland.

The Selecao had been invisible so far, claiming wins in their first two games, without allowing their opponents to get a shot on target.

Brazil pressed hard from the last of the whistle, but Cameroon withstood the storm. The Indomitable Lions even asked a few questions of their own, but Ederson always had an answer.

However, just when it seemed like the game would end in a goalless stalemate, Vincent Aboubakar came up with the goods in stoppage time. The Cameroon talisman got on the end of a cross from Ngom Mbekeli and planted a firm header behind Ederson to seal a 1-0 win.

However, the 30-year-old striker took off his shirt and was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.

Unfortunately for Cameroon, their win did not matter much, as Switzerland beat Serbia and qualified with six points.

Fans were impressed with Cameron’s win, especially as they are the first African team to defeat the Selecao at a World Cup.

They took to social media to share their thoughts.

We are proud of you Guys UP Cameroon🙏😘

In fact, #QatarWorldCup2022 has proven critics wrong with many drama, twists and turns, upsets and surprises, and action packed suspense. The Cameroon match is one to live with the memory forever

Aboubakar did both the calma celebration and Messi's iconic shirt celebration. Man was super happy. So excited for him. At least Cameroon are going home with an iconic win against Brazil. First African nation to defeat Brazil in a World Cup match.
