The Super Eagles striker has been linked with a return to Turkey barely five months after leaving, but Gunes is not interested in having him
Besiktas coach Senol Gunes has rejected a transfer for Super Eagles striker Anthony Nwakaeme.
The Super Eagles striker was a consistent lynchpin for Trabzonspor before he left for Saudi Arabia side Al Fayha in August.
Nwakaeme recorded 47 goals and 40 assists in 145 appearances for the Black Sea Storm, and the Nigerian striker was instrumental in their Turkish Super Lig triumph last season.
However, the 33-year-old hitman refused to sign a new contract at Trabzonspor, opting for a move to Saudi Arabian side Al Fayha.
Nonetheless, four months after his move, there are reports that he wants out, and could be looking to return to Turkey. In an earlier report from Soccernet.ng, Besiktas were favorites to secure his services.
However, according to Turkish news outfit Aksam, Besiktas coach Gunes is not interested in having Nwakaeme in his team at the moment.
The Black and Whites have the second-best attack in the Super Lig with 26 goals in 13 games. They currently sit 8th on the Super Lig table.
