The Super Eagles striker just left the Super Lig in August, but he could make a surprise return in January
Turkish giants Besiktas are planning a shock transfer for Nigerian striker Anthony Nwakaeme four months after he joined Saudi Arabia side Al Fayha.
Nwakaeme cemented his hero status at Trabzonspor last season, registering 13 goals and ten assists in the run-up to their Super Lig triumph.
The big Nigerian forward spent four years at Trabzonspor scoring 47 goals and registering 40 assists in 145 appearances.
Nonetheless, Nwakaeme refused to extend his stay at Trabzonspor, opting for a more lucrative deal at Saudi Arabian side Al Fayha.
However, according to Akit, the 33-year-old may end his contract at Al Fayha just four months after he joined the club, and Besiktas have already shown interest in securing his services.
If Nwakaeme eventually moves to Besiktas, it could put a dent in his legacy at Trabzonspor, because of the rivalry between them and the Istanbul giants.
Besiktas currently sit eighth on the Super Lig table, but they have scored the second-highest goals in the Super Lig. Their bane has been their poor defense which has conceded 18 goals in 13 games.
