Nigerian sports supporters expressed their joy over Ghana’s elimination from the World Cup after they had previously beaten the Super Eagles to qualify.

Some Nigerian sports fans seem to have cheered Ghana’s exit from the 2022 World Cup, as they believe it brings them level with Nigeria, who secured the dented Nigeria’s hope of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup.

Soccernet.ng recalls that a toothless draw at Kumasi, Ghana, was preceded by an away goal twice credited for the Black Stars of Ghana to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar following a 1-1 tie with Nigeria at the MKO Abiola stadium.

The Ghanaians, as earlier reported, took the lead through Thomas Partey after making a long-range strike past Francis Uzoho in Abuja.

The Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong, replied with a goal that was not enough for Austin Eguavoen’s men to qualify.

The Ghanaians, who handed the Portuguese a narrow victory, could not keep up with the tournament even after defeating South Koreans’ 3 goals to two.

The intention of Otto Addo’s team to exact revenge on Uruguay for their 2010 World Cup exit was not fully realized as the South Americans responded to the Ghanaians by demonstrating that their previous victory over them was not a mistake.

Following their defeat, some Nigerian fans dashed to their social media platforms to dump their reactions.

A fan wrote:

Nigeria & Ghana are even now.

Another supporter chuckled after Ghana’s exit:

Nigeria and Ghana are out! 🤣🤣🤣

Another supporter believes that Ghana’s victory against Nigeria to secure an early World Cup elimination was not worth it:

Ghana beat Nigeria just to have 3 games of cardio 🤢

One said:

But Ghana enjoyed some good moments Nigeria wished they had, and that’s the big deal

However, a different supporter believes Ghanaians would support Nigerians if they were competing in the World Cup:

Stop been insensitive as this is not funny, on a day like this Ghana would be rooting for Nigeria

Even after the defeat, another sports enthusiast would have chosen Ghana over the Black Stars to compete in the World Cup:

I would rather the Super Eagles of Nigeria at this World Cup than this unserious vengeance-seeking Ghana 🇬🇭 team.

Super Eagles wouldn’t have done better than Black Stars if they were there. African teams need better FA management and resources to excell. The talents are there in abundance.

If Super Eagles had been there, they still would not have fared better than Black Stars. For African sides to succeed, there must be an improvement in FA management and funding. The skills are readily available.
