Napoli working on Osimhen’s extension, have Portuguese star as contingency plan

Osimhen has been a consistent performer for Napoli in the last two seasons, but they face the possibility of losing him if they do not move quickly

Serie A high-flyers Napoli are planning to extend Victor Osimhen’s contract, but they have eyes on Portuguese striker Beto if negotiations fall through.

Osimhen signed for Napoli in 2020 for a club record €75million deal. The Nigerian striker struggled in his first season at Naples, but he picked up last season, scoring 18 goals in 32 games.

This season, the Super Eagles star has taken to a notch higher, finding the net ten times in 24 appearances for the Partenopeans.

Osimhen’s displays have not gone unnoticed, as some of Europe’s big boys have been keeping tabs on him. However, Napoli’s €100million-plus fee has made it tough for suitors.

The former Lille man’s contract will expire in 2025, and according to gonfialarete, Napoli have begun the process of extending his stay at the club.

Nonetheless, Napoli also have a replacement plan in case they fail to keep Osimhen.

Gonfialerete also reports that Napoli may move for Udinese striker Beto. The Portuguese striker has been decent for Udinese this since he joined last season.

Beto scored eleven goals in 28 games last season. This campaign, he has already found the net six times in 15 appearances for Udinese, and he is rated highly at the club. The former Portimonese man is valued at €13million as per Transfermarkt.
