“He is just getting started”- Osimhen heaps praise on Napoli superstar

Osimhen has been brilliant this season, and he has come up clutch for Napoli a few times

Former Roma midfielder Francesco Moriero believes Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen will have to play a major role if Napoli want to succeed this season.

Napoli signed Osimhen from Lille in 2020 for a club record €75million. The Super Eagles point man struggled to hit his stride in his first season because of injuries.

However, Osimhen picked form last season, scoring 18 goals in 32 games for the Partenopeans.

This campaign, Osimhen has been spectacular, banging in ten goals in 14 appearances. Napoli have been one of the best teams in Europe this season, scoring goals aplenty and keeping the backline water-tight.

Former Roma midfielder Moriero, who also had stints at Napoli and Inter Milan has been impressed with what he has seen from Osimhen so far.

Moriero believes that Napoli stand a chance to claim silverware, and Osimhen’s presence would be an advantage

“I think the Italian championship is as difficult as every year,” Moriero told Napoli Magazine.

“I think Spalletti is keeping a certain balance both in the locker room and in the fans.  Right now, I don’t see any teams capable of keeping up with Napoli.

“Osimhen is an extraordinary player, in my opinion, he can be the key man to solve Napoli’s issues”

Napoli have not won the Scudetto in over thirty years. But this year, they have a solid chance to win the league if they can continue their blistering start to the season.

Osimhen has been spectacular, and if he can stay fit, he would have a big say in where the Serie A title would eventually go to.
