“Our football has gone from top to bottom”- Fans blast Super Eagles after loss to Portugal

The Selecao proved to be too much to handle, but fans believe they could have done better

Fans have taken to social media to lash out at the Super Eagles after their disappointing 4-0 loss to Portugal on Thursday.

Nigeria played Portugal at the Estadio Jose Alvalade in what was a preparatory fixture for the Selecao ahead of the Mundial that begins on the 20th of November.

The Super Eagles were expected to put up a good fight against a Portuguese side that did not have Cristiano Ronaldo. However, they flattered to deceive.

Nigeria’s play was mostly disjointed, they offered very little in attack, and they were dominated in midfield. Bruno Fernandes scored a first-half brace to give Portugal a comfortable cushion.

Emmanuel Dennis had a chance to put some respect on the scoreline, but he fluffed his lines from the penalty spot.

Two late goals from Joao Mario and Goncalo Ramos ensured that Portugal picked up a deserved 4-0 victory.

Fans took to social media to share their displeasure with the result.

When will the Super Eagles of Nigeria be great again? Our football has gone from top to bottom.

Clearly, we can now see why Rohr kept Emmanuel Dennis at arms length. That Nigeria continues to call him up after his pre-Afcon shenanigans shows why our team is in this deep a hole

So sad since this our new coach takeover the affairs of the Super Eagles We have not won any of our friendlies, so sad indeed 😞

— Saint Val (@i_am_saint_val) November 18, 2022

A Nigerian coach should take charge of the Super Eagles let's learn from Senegal and Tunisia. For a foreign coach the money is all he is here for.

If we exit early from the World Cup we will come and beat Nigeria again to console ourselves 😹😹💔 #ghana #blackstars Super eagles

Super-eagles that are not going for world cup was playing as if they have final to play next week with Brazil, why Portugal that qualified for the world cup is playing with all their might. SUPEREAGLES FUND SHOULD BE USED TO SETTLE ASUU SALARIES

Whenever your favorite journalists hype up the NFF, remind them of how low Amaju pinnick and his board has brought the super eagle..

Remind them of the continuous humiliation the super eagles face because of their ineptitude.
Don't absolve Sunday Dare too

— IROH (@uncule_iROH) November 18, 2022

Argentina will never beat a Rohr team 4 goals to zero…
The problem we are having in Nigerian football is that we have too many Chelsea fc fanatics in Nigeria who wants to win every game they played. Check the super eagles' win ratio with Rohr and without Rohr

This Super Eagle can't win Abia Warriors, no apology.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

— Master-B🗽 (@ObidentBachelor) November 18, 2022

Super eagles haven't had a good coach since Steven Keshi, they haven't had a goalkeeper since Vincent Enyeama, Nigeria football down the drain like Man United 😒.#WorldCup2022

— Das (@D_WarEagle) November 18, 2022

Rohr still loves the Super Eagles and actually understands the terrain. We need to get him back!

— Precious (@Mazikazi) November 18, 2022

Nigeria’s football has not suffered this type of huge embarrassment.
This is shameful. Not even a goal or two defeat.
When I was I was looking at it. I thought It’s B team. Then I saw these Super Eagles regular players . I be said wait a minute. This is serious .
This is Nigeria we are talking about. We shouldn’t be at this level anymore
