The Black Eagles were looking to add the one-cap Nigeria international to their attacking personnel in January, but their plans have hit a brick wall
Turkish giants Besiktas have been told that any offer for Nigeria international forward Anthony Nwakaeme will not be entertained in January.
Nwakaeme presently plays for Saudi Arabian club Al Fayha after joining on a free transfer in the summer.
But the 33-year-old remains popular in Turkey, having led Trabzonspor to a historic title triumph last season.
But he left the Black Sea Storms after refusing to renew his expired contract with the champions.
Nwakaeme’s name, however, continues to generate buzz in the Turkish rumour mill, especially as he has rediscovered his best form in the Saudi Premier League.
After struggling to find his feet at the start of his sojourn in the Middle East, Nwakaeme has answered his critics with three goals in his last three games.
And Besiktas quickly identified the one-cap Super Eagles star as the ideal man to replace English flop Dele Alli, who will be sent back to Everton midway through his season-long loan deal.
Besiktas had reportedly offered to take Nwakaeme on a loan deal in January as they challenge for the league title.
According to Aksam, however, Al Fayha have turned down the proposal as they have no intention of letting Nwakaeme leave the club.
The Nigerian attacker, in August, inIed a two-year deal that will keep him with the Saudis until 2024.
