Napoli celebrate Osimhen after record-breaking feat at Bergamo

The Super Eagles hitman has been phenomenal for the Partenopeans, but he hit a new high last Saturday

Italian Serie A leaders Napoli have celebrated Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen for his goal at Atalanta that made him the highest-scoring Nigerian in Serie A history.

Osimhen started the season on fire, scoring two goals in Napoli’s opening two games of the season. Unfortunately, he suffered a hamstring injury that ruled him out of action for over a month.

However, the 23-year-old Nigerian hitman returned to action with a bang in October, scoring in the Partenopeans’ 4-2 win against Ajax.

Since then, Osimhen has scored six goals in five appearances for Napoli, including a hat-trick against Sassuolo.

The Partenopeans traveled to Atlanta last weekend, and again, Osimhen shone like a million stars.

Despite causing the penalty that led to Atalanta’s goal, the Super Eagles striker redeemed himself with a goal and an assist to ensure it ended 2-1 at Bergamo.

Asides from the three points, the goal also meant a lot to Oshimen, as it took him to the summit of Nigerian goalscorers in the Serie A.

Before the game, Osimhen was level with Simy Nwankwo on 31 goals. However, his 23rd-minute strike pushed him to 32 goals.

Napoli are happy with Osimhen’s achievement, and they took to social media to praise their star striker.

Osimhen has a chance to break another record when Napoli welcome Empoli on Tuesday.

If he scores, he will be the first Napoli player to score five consecutive Serie A matches since Arkadiusz Milik, in 2019.
