The three-time African champions would look to offer a firm test to the World Cup-bound Selecao
Super Eagles vice-captain William Troost-Ekong has recognised Portugal as one of the best teams in the world.
The Portuguese are among the countries that will participate in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar later in November.
The 2016 European champions will play Ghana in their opening group match at the Mundial. They have arranged a friendly with Nigeria in preparation for that clash against the Black Stars.
Portugal will, however, be without Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo for the encounter.
Super Eagles defender Troost-Ekong is convinced that Portugal remains a strong team without one of the game’s greatest players.
And the Watford ace insists that despite Nigeria missing out on the party to Qatar, the country would still benefit from squaring up against the 1966 World Cup bronze medallists.
“I think it is disappointing that we are not in the World Cup, but that is behind us,” Troost-Ekong said at the pre-match press conference.
“Of course, it will be a good measure to see where we can end up being. Portugal is a very good team, and it will be a very good test for us. It is a fantastic team, even without Cristiano Ronaldo; we don’t focus on one player; it’s a great team.”
Nigeria’s most valuable player Victor Osimhen is also unavailable for the high-profile international friendly.
The warm-up game starts at 8:45 pm at the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon.
