“I wan para” – Super Eagles star angered by Bruno Fernandes’ alleged disrespectful Nigeria comments

The three-time African champions fell to a heavy defeat in Lisbon to the 2016 European champions on Thursday

Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu has reacted with displeasure to comments credited to Portugal international Bruno Fernandes taunting the Nigerian national team.

Fernandes scored twice and was largely instrumental as Portugal dominated the Super Eagles before sealing a 4-0 win in an international friendly on November 17.

The Manchester United playmaker was, after the encounter, reported to have been dissatisfied with the poor level of opposition put up by the Super Eagles in Lisbon.

“Our match against Nigeria was not on the standard we wanted,” Fernandes said. Their level was not on a world-class required standard.

“So here in Qatar, we will face the World's best. We wanted to play a tough national team, but all of them were already occupied. Nigeria was the only one available. They didn't test us at all.”

Fernandes' cold dig, however, did not sit well with Nigerian midfielder John Ogu.

Voicing his displeasure with the Man United ace's comments, Ogu wrote on Twitter: “Omo I don’t even want to believe this but if he actually said this, Omo I really wan PARA on am o!!!”

Ogu did not participate in the Nigeria versus Portugal friendly.

Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro, however, paraded some of Nigeria's finest midfielders in Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, and Joe Aribo.

A beg no waste your time para John, na your former mates de disgrace themselves thinking they are disrespecting 9ja. The knowladge that Portugal is in the same group with Ghana should have giving them the extra motivation to play well but no way. Infact, this is the most clueless and useless super eagles team i have seen in a long while. What was i thinking believing in them.

I don’t blame the Portuguese striker if he said so. The current Super Eagle is a disgrace to Nigeria and Nigerians. Some of those so-called professionals have no business in the team. I can’t believe that a country of over 200 million people cannot get 24 patriotic and dedicated players to proudly represent the country. The humiliation and disgrace is unbearable and Nigerians have had enough of it.

Well, till nigerian coaches come home and pick patriotic and full blooded nigerian players we Will always pray psalm 23 when ever the super eagles are playing. Even coach Sampson Siasia can not be defeated like that. A team without Christiano. However, it’s an insult to his brother Pisiero of a coach.

Any Nigerian indigenous COACH would be better than all these people they are handing over the destiny of Nigeria football into. If you had given the present Nigerian assistant Finidi to handle this Eagles, he would have gotten a better result. You relegated him and he was so unutilized that he started fighting for the shirt of a retired defence maestro with a Simon, who instead of thinking how to manipulate and outwit Portuguese defence, was thinking, bargaining, and struggling how to just hear the last blast of whistle to ruch Pepe for shirts. His “my son” explanations did not assuage our sensibilities.

Give Finidi Geroge or any other the mantle. Not another Ponpondous or Otto Claver or any other. Except you are going to search out if those two Netherlands coaches the lifted our soccer have sons who do coaching jobs.

Portuguese captain simply said the truth. The Nigerian EPL champions or better still, an entire selection of 24 players of our EPL with their paltry salary doubled for once, could have done better. The wealth of those boys make them play as if to say, WHAT DO HAVE TO LOSE? ISN’T IT NATIONAL OIL….. at least the ones not stollen like fried GROUNDNUTS

To be candid Bruno was not wrong. I equally said the same thing after the match. He only buttressed the point and I was vindicated somehow. I can’t remember seeing any national team playing with absolutely zero passion like this Nigerian team. Gone are the days Super Eagles used to give us joy, especially when playing all these European countries. It will be wiser to start from scratch and build a new team of young and vibrant talent with passion.

This present team “called super eagles” are near to nothing, in my judgment. If who was para actually watched the game he will have a rethink. Nagerians already don dey para for the shameful and disgraceful show that the exibited. Be grateful u didn’t play in the friendlyo

I think the entire team Super Eagles lacks focus. They appear distracted. Way too much fun at the camp all the time. They don’t know when to take care of business!!!
