Napoli forward Victor Osimhen will miss the friendly in Lisbon after citing an injury to excuse himself
Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze has arrived in Nigeria’s camp in Portugal ahead of the Super Eagles international friendly match with the Selecao on Thursday, November 17.
Chukwueze was the last man being expected for the Super Eagles following the arrival of 22 others earlier.
The former Golden Eaglets hero had scored two goals and claimed two assists over the weekend to fire Villarreal to a comprehensive 9-0 Copa del Rey win at Santa Amalia.
The 23-year-old winger’s arrival brings to 23 the number of Super Eagles players at the disposal of head coach Jose Peseiro.
Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers and Omonia Nicosia goalkeeper Francis Uzoho had joined the team late on Monday evening to swell up the camp to 22, with only Chukwueze being expected.
Dessers was called up as a late replacement for Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, who pulled out of the friendly due to injury.
Although, reports from the Italian press suggest that the former Lille man is not battling any physical problem and was only looking to avoid the risk of getting injured.
In his absence, though, coach Peseiro will bank on the goalscoring prowess of Lorient ace Terem Moffi and KRC Genk machine Paul Onuachu.
Onuachu is the highest goalscorer in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League with 13 goals for league leaders Genk.
In France, only PSG’s Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Junior have found the back of the net more times than Moffi. The Lorient man has hit ten goals for lowly Les Merlus.
