The Nigeria international only joined the Serie A side in the summer from Bundesliga campaigners RB Leipzig
Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman is becoming a fan favourite at Atalanta following his great start to life in Italy.
In his first few months since signing for Atalanta from Germany’s RB Leipzig, Lookman has contributed five goals (four goals, one assist) in ten matches for the Black and Blues.
Lookman’s latest goal arrived last weekend, as the former Leicester City loanee netted the winner in the 2-1 defeat of Sassuolo at the Gewiss Stadium.
That match also kicked off Atalanta’s celebration of the club’s 115th anniversary.
The players’ jerseys used in the Sassuolo game were afterwards auctioned, with the proceeds to be given to charity.
Interestingly, Lookman’s jersey number 11 has attracted a thousand euros auction prize, the most for any Atalanta player.
The bidding process continues, though, with the Serie A side already netting nine thousand euros from the sales.
Lookman will aim to endear himself more to the Atalanta fan base when Gian Piero Gasperini’s men face free-scoring Lazio away from home on Sunday.
Aside from Sassuolo, Lookman has hit the target against Udinese, Fiorentina, and Sampdoria. The 25-year-old also provided an assist in the 2-0 win at Monza in September.
