Superb Boniface sends Royale Union SG over the line in six-goal thriller against Braga

Les Unionistes Union 60 needed a result to advance to the next round and Boniface turned up to power them through

Nigerian striker Victor Boniface scored a brace for Royale Union SG to help them to a 3-3 draw at home to Braga.

After claiming a 2-1 win against Braga last week, Royale Union Saint Gilliose needed just a draw in the second leg to confirm their spot in the knockout round of the UEFA Europa League.

However, they did not start the second leg, as Vitinha put Braga in front after just 15 minutes. But before the visitors could regroup Royale Union SG stung them.

Boniface received a pass from Bart Nieuwkoop and drilled a wicked shot that beat Braga goalkeeper Matheus and nestled at the bottom right corner of the net.

Unfortunately for Les Unionistes Union 60, they were leaky on the night, and Vitinha capitalized on it to score two goals and give Braga a 3-1 lead going into the break.

Royale Union entered the second half with more fire, and they got their reward. Just four minutes into the second period, Dante Vanzeir scored to make it 3-2 and raise their hopes of a comeback.

Then, in the 62nd minute, Boniface turned up to ensure that his club was not on the losing end. The 23-year-old scored a spectacular goal, as he jumped to meet a cross from an awkward position and sent a strong header that beat Matheus again.

Boniface could have scored in the 87th minute to claim all three points for Royale Union SG, but his shot just drifted off target.

Nonetheless, his brace was enough to seal a 3-3 draw for his Belgian side. Also, the draw secured Royale Union SG a spot in the knockout rounds of the Europa League.

Boniface now has three goals in four Europa League appearances this season.
