The former Lille lad produced a moment of individual brilliance to power Napoli to their eleventh consecutive victory
Victor Osimhen has dedicated his goal against AS Roma to his friends and loved ones who helped him through the time he was injured and away from action.
Osimhen picked up an injury against Liverpool in September that kept him on the sidelines for several weeks. The Super Eagles star’s absence did not stop Napoli from maintaining their winning run in Serie A and the UEFA Champions League.
But Osimhen has returned like he never left, scoring in his last three matches. But his goal that shot down Jose Mourinho’s Roma is downright spectacular.
And the Nigeria international is pleased to have helped Napoli stay unbeaten against the tough Romans.
“These are three important points against a difficult opponent, but we’re tough to beat,” said the Nigerian attacker.
“I want to dedicate this goal to those who remained close to me during my time away from the pitch.
“As a team, we’re not thinking about where we will end up at the end of the season. We’re thinking game by game. And then let’s see what happens.”
Napoli, with the hard-fought win over Roma, sit at the top of the Italian Serie A, three points above champions AC Milan.
