No Nigerian in any of the continent’s biggest leagues has scored more goals than the France-based striker
FC Lorient have confirmed that Nigerian forward Terem Moffi is suffering from a sprained ankle which will keep him out of action for ‘a few days’.
Moffi fell badly on his ankle during the first half of Lorient’s clash against Reims on Saturday and was replaced shortly after.
And on Wednesday morning, FCL revealed on the club’s official website that the Super Eagles ace would miss next weekend’s trip to Troyes because of the injury.
The club failed to disclose the length of time Moffi will be out of competitive action, stating that this would be made public in the next few days.
Moffi has started the 2022-2023 league season on fire after smashing eight goals for Lorient in Ligue 1.
The 23-year-old has been one of the most exciting stars in the French top flight, outlining PSG’s duo of Neymar Julian and Kylian Mbappe at some point.
His impressive goal haul also makes him Nigeria’s leading goalscorer in Europe’s top five leagues.
Moffi has equally excelled for the Super Eagles recently.
The former Kortrijk forward has scored three goals in the last two games for Nigeria, including a brace against Sao Tome and Principe and once versus Algeria in a friendly last month.
Moffi will hope to recover in time to make the Super Eagles’ next matches against Costa Rica and Portugal in November.
