The ‘headmaster’ reserved good words for Umar Sadiq after completing a big money move to Real Sociedad
The lanky forward signed for Real Sociedad on Thursday as he replaces Alexander Isak.
Sadiq has become one of La Liga’s most looked-at forwards this season as he has scored two goals already.
The former Almeria man completed a €26m plus add-ons deal to Real Sociedad and impressed his countryman who was a cult hero at the club.
“Dear Sadiq, congratulations on your move to Real Sociedad. This is where legends are made, so feel at home and keep the goals coming,” Mutiu Adepoju tweeted.
Adepoju played for Real Sociedad between 1996 and 2000 and scored eight league goals for them in more than eighty appearances.
Nicknamed the “headmaster” during his playing days for his unique heading ability, Adepoju also played for Real Madrid Castilla and Racing Santander.
He had his best years in Spanish football and is one of the Nigerians who impressed the most in the La Liga during their playing days.
Sadiq is expected to be slotted straight into Sociedad after waiting all season for a possible switch to Villarreal.
The former Partizan Belgrade star has made one of the highest moves of any Nigerian this season.
