Transfer Deadline: Super Eagles players who may still move

At least five Super Eagles players were involved on Saturday in the Premier League with only one ending on a winning note

Alex Iwobi posted a solid performance in Everton’s home draw against Merseyside neighbours Liverpool.

The game ended goalless with the Toffees holding off their more established rivals.

Everton had goalkeeper Jordan Pickford to thank for his excellent performance but a midfield anchored by Iwobi also stood up to the task.

The former Arsenal midfielder had 86.5% pass completion rate and completed 2 of his 3 attempted long balls. He had three clearances and won one tackle. Where he was most instrumental was in helping Everton dictate play and look comfortable with his good passing range and spatial awareness.

Frank Onyeka also came in as 59th minute substitute for Brentford as the Bees stung a hapless Leeds United 5-2.

Ivan Toney was the hero of the day as he bagged a hat trick to help his side continue a strong run into the Premier League season.

Onyeka also had a good game after replacing Shandon Baptiste. The former Midjtylland star started the season slowly but is gradually getting to shape and has earned better minutes in the past few games.

In Southampton’s loss to Wolves, Joe Aribo featured for 75 minutes before he was replaced by Nigeria-eligible new Southampton signing, Sam Edozie.

The Saints lost to a Daniel Podence goal with the Nigerian putting in a good shift.

Nottingham Forest has had a rather wobbly start to life on their Premier League return but looked promising at The City Ground on Saturday. They however didn’t keep the promise as they failed to contain a raft of attack from Bournemouth.

The Cherries, smarting from the sack of Scott Parker have now gone two games without a loss since sacking their former manager. They however looked rattled against The Reds after going two goals down.

Bournemouth came back from behind to win the game 3-2 with Taiwo Awoniyi coming on as a 69th minute substitute while Emmanuel Dennis came on in the 87th minute.

Both players had little to do as they lost their second straight game and may be facing a battle against the drop at the end of the season.
