Napoli have confirmed Victor Osimhen will be out for some weeks after he sustained an injury against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League

Osimhen was substituted in the 42nd minute against Liverpool after sustaining a hamstring problem.

Before his withdrawal, the former Lille forward was a nemesis for the Reds as he ran the channels.

Barely fit before the game, he had also hobbled off against Lazio last weekend.

His latest injury will last some weeks according to the Napoli medical team as he’s expected to return after the break.

Serie A is expected to resume October 1st after a break on the 18th of September with Osimhen expected to miss at least the next two Serie A matches and the Super Eagles clash against Algeria on the 27th of September.

Napoli described Osimhen’s injury as a second degree hamstring lesion and revealed that he has started his recovery programme immediately.

Osimhen had said the injury was a small problem after the game against Liverpool.
