The Pythagoreans suffered relegation to the third tier of Italian football last season and are looking to make an instant return to Serie B
Serie C campaigners FC Crotone have set their sights on a move for Italian-born Nigerian forward Raphael Chidi Odogwu before the summer transfer window slams shut.
Chidi Odogwu currently plies his trade with FC Sudtirol, a team he joined two years ago from Virtus Verona.
Crotone and Sudtirol ended last season with contrasting fortunes. While Crotone were relegated to Serie C for finishing 19th of 20 teams, Sudtirol gained promotion to Serie B after ending the 2021-2022 campaign as Serie C champions.
Odogwu played his part in that success story, contributing five goals and two assists in 32 league matches for the Südtirolers.
This season, Odogwu has already scored one goal in three matches for Sudtirol.
Incidentally, it is the only goal the Whitereds have managed in Serie B so far, as they sit bottom of the league table.
It is no surprise that they are keen to hold on tight to Odogwu, a striker they acquired on a free transfer in 2020.
But as per a report from lacasadic.com (via Tuttomercatoweb), Crotone are not giving up on their chase for Odogwu and will push all the way until they get their man.
Odogwu was born in Verona, Italy, to a Nigerian father and an Italian mother 31 years ago.
